Doutora em Artes Visuais pelo Instituto de Artes da Universidade Estadual Paulista Júlio de Mesquita Filho (2016), bolsista da CAPES e contemplada pelo PDSE pela mesma agência (2015). É Mestre em Artes Visuais (2004) e Bacharel em Artes Plásticas pela mesma instituição (2001). Licenciada em Artes pelo Programa Especial de Formação Pedagógica (Formação de Professores) do Centro Universitário Belas Artes de São Paulo (2005). Especialista em Curadoria e Educação em Museus de Arte Contemporânea da Universidade de São Paulo (2010).
Professora adjunta do setor de Teoria da Arte no Curso de Licenciatura em Artes Visuais, Centro de Artes, Universidade Regional do Cariri/ CE (2016). É líder do grupo de pesquisa NZINGA – Novos Ziriguiduns (Inter)Nacionais Gerados na Arte locado no Centro de Artes, da Universidade Regional do Cariri/CE. Conduz o Projeto de Pesquisa YABARTE pela Pró-Reitoria de Pós-Graduação e Pesquisa e o Projeto de Extensão de mesmo nome pela Pró-Reitoria de Extensão visando ampliar o escopo de propagação e de atendimento das pesquisas que têm discutido as ausências de segmentos humanos marginalizados no que se refere aos registros e narrativas da história e crítica das artes visuais. Ambos os projetos estão vinculados ao Grupo de Pesquisa NZINGA.
Atua há 20 anos na área das artes visuais como artista, pesquisadora e educadora, dos quais dez deles foram dedicados à arte-educação em museus e instituições de arte e cultura tendo sido coordenadora do Núcleo de Educação do Museu Afro Brasil de 2007 a 2010. A arte produzida por mulheres e homens negrodescendentes tem sido seu principal tema de pesquisa, bem como pesquisar formas de registro, reconhecimento e propagação de produções não hegemônicas realizadas no âmbito das artes visuais. Sua produção pauta a questão da identidade negra feminina, deslocamentos e conexões como a globalização em diálogo com a história ancestral.
Como artista visual, vem desenvolvendo vários trabalhos que relacionam arte, identidade e gênero, tendo participado de diversas exposições no Brasil e no exterior apresentando desde desenhos à performances. Suas últimas participações em exposições foram:

Como autora, possui vários livros coordenados e publicados pelas editoras Fino Traço e Difusão Cultural do Livro. Atualmente compõe o comitê científico das revistas GAMA, CROMA e ESTÚDIO da Faculdade de Belas Artes de Lisboa.
Foi membro do conselho editorial da revista de afro-brasilidades O Menelick 2º Ato, de 2010 a 2016.

PhD in Visual Arts from the Institute of Arts of the Universidade Estadual Paulista Júlio de Mesquita Filho (UNESP) (2016), research fellow at CAPES (Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior) and contemplated by PDSE (from the Institutional Sandwich Fellowship Program Abroad) at the same agency (2015). Master’s degree in Visual Arts (2004) and a Bachelor in Plastic Arts from the same institution (2001). She graduated in Arts from the Special Pedagogical Training Program (Teacher Training) at Centro Universitário Belas Artes de São Paulo (2005). Specialist in Curatorship and Education in Contemporary Art Museums of the University of São Paulo (USP) (2010).
Associate Professor of Art Theory in the Visual Arts Degree Course at the Centro de Artes of the Universidade Regional do Cariri/CE (2016). She is leader of the research group NZINGA – Novos Ziriguiduns (Inter)Nacionais Gerados na Arte [New (Inter)National Generated in Art Ziriguiduns], located at the Centro de Artes of the Universidade Regional do Cariri/ CE. Leads the YABARTE Research Project by the Pro-Rectory of Postgraduate Studies and Research and the Extension Project of the same name by the Pro-Rectory of Extension with the aim of amplifying the scope of propagation and service of research that has discussed the absences of marginalized human segments in relation to the registers and narratives of history and criticism of the visual arts. Both projects are linked to the NZINGA Research Group.
She has been working for 20 years in the visual arts as an artist, researcher and educator, ten of which were dedicated to art-education in museums and art and culture institutions, having been the coordinator of the Núcleo de Educação do Museu Afro Brasil from 2007 to 2010. The art produced by women and men of African descent has been their main research topic, as well as researching forms of registration, recognition and propagation of non-hegemonic productions made in the visual arts. Her production focuses on the issue of female black identity, displacement and connections such as globalization in dialogue with ancient history.
As a visual artist, Felinto has developed several works that connect art, identity and gender, having participated in several exhibitions in Brazil and abroad, presenting from drawings to performances. Her last participations in exhibitions were:

As author, Felinto has several books coordinated and published by Fino Traço e Difusão Cultural do Livro publishers. Currently she composes the scientific committee of the magazines GAMA, CROMA and ESTÚDIO of the Faculty of Fine Arts of Lisbon.
She was a member of the editorial board of the Afro-Brazilian magazine O Menelick 2nd Act, from 2010 to 2016.
RENATA FELINTO
